From its humble beginnings in 1996 West Rand Pack operated out of a small warehouse in Boltonia, Krugersdorp, focusing mainly on the supply of packaging such as take away polystyrene trays, plastic bags and other basic packaging materials such as reams of white paper. The site soon became too small and the business relocated to larger premises in Krugersdorp adding to its product range in the process. Plastic ware in the form dustbins and containers in various shapes and sizes was added to the offering.Expansion was once again on the cards and in 2001 West Rand Pack moved into even larger premises. The extra space once again allowed for an increase in the product offering and customers could also purchase items such as stationery, glass ware, and kiddie’s toys. Due to the established relationships with suppliers, the business was given the opportunity to add larger items such as pet care, gardening, and outdoor furniture to the ever-expandingproduct range.As a result of many years of hard work and a commitment to giving customers an exciting shopping experience, West Rand Pack became the largest plastic store in Krugersdorp and the surrounding areas. It very quickly became known for being an exciting variety store with competitive prices but more importantly also had a “homey” feel where customers loved to shop as it was seen as a family business.The store became a destination store to many and it was at this point that the proprietors realized that it was time to grow the brand and expand.In 2008 a suitable site became available in the Lifestyle Garden Center in Randpark Ridge and West Pack Lifestyle opened its doors.Although many of the brand’s loyal customers were familiar with the name West Rand Pack, the owners decided to rename the new store West Pack Lifestyle. The reason for this is that the name West Rand Pack was dominant and well known on the West Rand, whereas West Pack Lifestyle was a name that could more easily be grown into a strong provincial or even national brand. The new name and brand was very well received.Expansion and replication of the business model became the focus and in 2011 - only three short years after opening the Randpark Ridge store - West Pack Lifestyle Alberton opened its doors.It is widely recognized that both West Rand Pack and the West Pack Lifestyle stores are family owned and managed businesses and the owners feel that this strategy has very strongly contributed to their success with both loyal customers and suppliers supporting the business.West Pack Lifestyle is not a plastic ware shop or a packaging supplier – there is so much more. Over the years the product range and offering has increased exponentially – so much so that the words “Household dream shop” have become synonymous with the brand. This means exactly what it says and customers know that when they come into a West Pack lifestyle store they NEVER leave empty handed. There is indeed something for everyone.
