This DEMO allows you to calculate the flow of water flowing across a variable angle V-notch weir. Add this handy little application to your android phone and avoid the use of look-up tables to calculate the flow in a canal or during your pumping test.

Only V-notch angles of between 20 and 80 degrees are allowed in the DEMO. The full version (see www.hydrogeologist.net) allows you to calculate flows with angles of between 20 and 110 degrees. You can also find other software at this site (e.g. circular orifice weir calculator).

The only data required to use this application is the height of water flowing across the weir and the weir angle. The following should be noted:

o Weir angles are in degrees.

o Head over the weir is in cm.

o Results are in L/sec.

This App was written in using the program "MIT App Inventor". By default this program allows applications to request permissions to "modify phone storage, allow full internet communications and read the phone state and identify". Although not used by the Weir app itself, you should not download this program if you are uncomfortable with this.
