TMAD-Lite! is the free version of our Traditional Martial Arts Dictionary. This version is fully featured but is limited to only 100 of the over 1000 entries in our full version.

TMAD is a budo-jiten (Martial Arts Dictionary) of traditional terms, their English translation and a description of the term. The dictionary currently features over 1000 terms commonly found in traditional martial arts. In addition to the description of the terms, also included are links to other terms which can provide additional information.

The application allows you to view the dictionary entries, sort by Japanese or English and search the dictionary. If there is no specific translation for the Japanese word, a partial description of the term is included on the main screen.

Aside from sword waza there are not many style specific waza in the dictionary. This is for two reasons: 1) the dictionary should be as generic and style independent as possible, and 2) in order to describe a style specific waza the jiten would start becoming a teaching tool versus a pure reference guide. Style specific waza can certainly be added into future versions of the jiten if it is a feature that is requested.
