Palo Alto Damage (DAMAGE) enables the rapid and accurate gathering of the severity and location of injuries, structure damage and infrastructure hazards resulting from a disaster. Reports can be submitted to an Emergency Operations Center via email, web, or local network.

DAMAGE includes neighborhood, block, and address data for the City of Palo Alto. It functions with or without the network, so when cell service is unavailable, accurate locations are still achieved.

DAMAGE creates reports which include location, structure status, indication of hazards such as fires and gas leaks, and the count and severity of injured people. If your Android device has an SD card, any number of photos may be added to the report.

DAMAGE supports the Block Preparedness Coordinator (BPC) and CERT Programs in the City of Palo Alto. For more information on the BPC and CERT programs, contact the City’s Director for the Office of Emergency Services & Homeland Security.

DAMAGE operates on Android 2.2 or higher.

Configuring DAMAGE

Before using DAMAGE, configure it to support rapid report creation and submittal. Tap the Settings button at the bottom right of the Event tab or open the menu to launch the Settings activity. Set the Reporter’s Name, Neighborhood, Block, and Submit Via values. Depending on the submit option chosen, enter an email or web address (URL).
