Insight.At CrowdVest, we have one objective in mind ... to rapidly harness the investment ideas of many, many individual generalist investors and to reflect the collective investment insights back to members.Up until now, individual investors have been caught between a rock and a hard place when it comes to investing. Either we: • let fund managers make all the investment decisions for us, accept whatever good or bad performance they deliver, and pay for the privilege; or • use a financial adviser or stock broker, recognising they may or may not have our best interests at heart; or • make all the decisions ourselves, even though we know we have a limited breadth of knowledge.Unfortunately, many people find themselves the proverbial "rabbit caught in the headlights", and avoid investment decisions altogether..At CrowdVest, we think there are lots of people who are passionate about investing. And we want to empower them to do just that. We have set out to: • focus on what really matters most to individual investors, that is, being invested in stocks that are expected to go up in value; • design an approach that embraces making active investment choices; • harness the collective insight of many, many individual generalist investors (hopefully at first hundreds, and then thousands, and then tens of thousands of people); • have a really well diversified list of collective investment insights; • leverage the rise of the internet, mobile computing and global distribution systems; and • do all of the above at low cost!Academic research on crowd decision making routinely attributes the better decisions of crowds to the elimination of individual noise. The internet has given rise to many analogous crowd-based decision making success stories; Kickstarter pledges, reddit upvote/downvotes, and the threadless scoring system to name just a few. Our goal is to apply this crowd decision making logic to the investment industry.CrowdVest is born digital, and can rapidly incorporate new information, by harnessing the insights of our community. We bring this community together by joining the power of the internet, with the convenience of mobile devices.We'd love you to join us on this exciting journey of discovery!**********Specific details: • Once you have downloaded the app and signed up, you are a member of the CrowdVest community. • Before you can vote for your investment ideas, members first have to complete a 10 question multiple choice quiz and get all ten questions correct. This quiz ensures that voting members have a base level of financial literacy. • Once members have successfully completed the quiz, they are able to vote. • There are two investment universes to choose from; 1) Australian Large Capitalisation companies (the constituents of the S&P;/ASX100 Index), and 2) Australian Small Capitalisation companies (the constituents of the S&P;/ASX Small Companies Index). • Members can vote in any or all of the investment universes. • Members have 10 votes for each investment universe. • Members can change how they allocate their 10 votes each day. • After the end of each Australian share market trading day, the votes of all members are aggregated and a new top 50 list of collective investment insights is published back to members, along with some characteristics of this list.**********CrowdVest.
