Pothole Sniffer uses the GPS Logger Activity to store Accelerometer values, GPS location, and Phone Orientation. A specially engineered algorithm analyzes the data to automatically detect pothole events, tossing out bumps caused by speed bumps, railroad tracks, sudden braking, etc. After logging data (by pressing the Record Data Button), users are requested to submit the data to the online Pothole Sniffer Database via email (by pressing the Send Data button). The analysis will be done on the data stored here, and a virtual map will be created of all identified pothole events. Additionally, recording data creates a .csv file in the user's SD card, beneficial for those looking to use the information in further downstream applications. The goal is to use this data to assist municipalities looking to quickly find and fix potholes, reducing inefficiency in the process.
