This educational game aims through the use of digital applications at the participation of primary school children, assisted by their teachers, parents and guardians, to develop a “green consciousness”, which means the knowledge about the environment and the Culture of a specific region, as well as the ability to manage sustainably its natural and cultural resources.

The digital applications are not meant to substitute the academic knowledge nor the teaching process within an academic environment, but rather to attract children’s interest in a “stimulating” way, so as to pass on to them properly adapted central messages.

For that purpose, the “range and depth” of the provided information remains focused, so that adult users can enrich their children’s knowledge primarily by stimulating their imagination and using the applications merely as an introductory tool to knowledge.

The applications were developed in relation to real regions, which children can visit either with their school class or with their parents-guardians.

The games run on smartphones or/and tables with Ios or Android firmware.

The can be downloaded from Apple Store or Google Play Store (search with keyword OikoGames), and on the Internet, www.walking-trails.net.

The texts, the questions and the overall approach are based on printed sources, oral traditions transmitted by old local people, as well as on Internet sources.

The digital educational applications were conceived by Lesvos Local Development Company ETAL SA, in cooperation with the Development Agencies of Heraklion, Larnaca, Paphos, and the Municipality of Archanes-Asterousia.
