LIFTUPP is a pedagogically grounded learning design that was created to address fundamental issues when managing outcomes-based medical/dental education, by enabling fully triangulated, integrated, and constructively aligned assessment and realtime feedback. Used as a complete package LIFTUPP facilitates unprecedented levels of curriculum control including: mapping, assessment blueprinting, audit, staff training, continuous longitudinal assessment and ultimately the production of a fully valid transferable skills portfolio. When used in conjunction with the LIFTUPP core, it enables the continuos, longitudinal, triangulated, personalised assessment of students in any relevant work place environment in all the required domains. Once the data has been collected and seamlessly pushed to the LIFTUPP core through WiFi, a bespoke web interface allows students (and staff) to monitor their personal development in real time. This enables continuous developmental improvements through highlighting the precise areas of targeted training need. Furthermore, it also means that progression decisions can be made on the basis of longitudinal quality, consistency, experience and the demonstration of improvement.
