With this DOUBLE App, you will be able to evaluate the “bio personality” of food and cosmetic productsBIO FOOD:Organic farming is a form of agriculture which avoids or largely excludes the use of synthetic fertilisers and pesticides, plant growth regulators, and livestock feed additives. According to the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements IFOAM : "The role of organic agriculture, whether in farming, processing, distribution, or consumption, is to sustain and enhance the health of ecosystems and organisms from the smallest in the soil to human beings.". Organic farming is regulated in Europe by Regulation EEC 834/2007 which has become a universal standard for organic production systems. ICEA certificates the respect of this mandatory set of rules.The ingredients contained in food preparations from organic farming must be certificated at 70% minimum. Non-bio ingredients can be used only if included in a special reference list.Additives, excipients and technical adjuvants are allowed exclusively when considered safe (i.e.: citric acid, ascorbic acid, carob seed flour. etc.). Only natural flavours and their mixtures are admitted. Also, it is forbidden the use of synthetic colorants, aggressive additives and any other ingredients originated by genetically modified organisms.A significant indicator of the bio profile of an industrial food preparation, can be drawn by its additive content. Amongst the hundreds allowed in generic food, the restrictive rules or organic farming allow a few dozens of additives, safe and useful. This App will help you to distinguish them and evaluate the “bio personality” of a food product.Environment friendly CosmeticsNo mutually recognized standards exist at international or European level for the “environment-friendly cosmetics” sector. As a matter of fact, often operators boast that their products have this or that quality. However, such qualities are unclear, unverified and refer to vague and indefinite “natural” properties.In Italy, the independent certification organ ICEA (Istituto per la Certificazione Etica ed Ambientale), with the partecipation of cosmetic manufacturers and authoritative members of the academic and scientific world, has prepared a Standard for Environment-friendly Cosmetics. To elaborate this standard, reference was made to the rules and regulations already successfully applied in other European countries.Along with this standard, a cosmetic product certified by ICEA is obtained:•without the prohibited substances specified in the appropriate list •without GMOs•without animals for final product testing•without ionizing radiation•with certified organic vegetable and animal materials whenever available.The respect of the negative list of unwanted ingredients is the basic, though not unique requirement for the qualification of cosmetic products as Environment-friendly Cosmetics and to obtain the related certification.
