Sustainability Aware is a series of educational apps made to inform and engage kids about our environment and our impacts on the Earth. In Going Green, we discover how our transport choices can make a greener future for us all.In this app we’ll cover the following topics:• what transport is and how we use it• the history of transport and the development of motorised transport• fossil fuels and how they supply energy• the problems associated with using fossil fuels as an energy source• air pollution, smog and related health issues• global warming and why it’s bad news• the biggest polluters – planes, cars and other motorised transportWe’ll also look at sustainable transport options, such as• bicycles and other human-powered vehicles• public transport – buses, trains and trams• new technology such as “green vehicles”, electric cars and biofuelsWe then explore some ideas about how we can create more sustainable transport systems in our communities and explain how our own individual transport choices can make a huge difference to the planet.Reading level: Approximately 9–11 years old, Australian middle to upper primary school level.
